New Concert Nylon Studio Shots

I got some nice shots of Geoff's Concert Nylon for the Concert Nylon Model Page. This guitar features a Carpthian spruce top, bubinga back and sides, snakewood binding, and thuya burl for the rosette and headplates. Geoff and I are a doing a little experiment, I'm going to set it up with three different materials for the nut and saddle, bleached bone, unbleached bone, and (very legal) ivory. It will be interesting to see if this produces any difference in tone. Coming soon, Geoff...very soon! :)

It's a Guitar!

Geoff's Concert Nylon was born Friday January 6, 2006 at 6pm, and it has not yet been named. The tone of this guitar is exactly what I was hoping for, a beautiful, bright, chimey ring in the upper mid range that I attribute largely to the bubinga back and sides. This is why I was so eager to recommend bubinga to Geoff, I think it's unbeatable for nylon strings. Here are some pictures of the guitar getting set up. I really love these birthday parties.

Bloodwood Grand Concert at Guitar Gallery

Looking for a fantastic fingerstyle guitar that's truly one of a kind? Robin is offering this Engelmann Spruce and Bloodwood Grand Concert at her fantasy shop, Guitar Gallery. I'm really proud of this instrument. It has great volume that really projects, with a strong attack and great focus. The neck is very slim and comfortable. If you're the least bit tempted, I can guarantee you'll be thrilled.

Frettin'

Happy New Year! Yeah, I was "working" on New Year's Day. Today I installed the frets and tuners on Geoff's Concert Nylon. These Gotoh deluxe tuners are a little expensive, but they're built so solidly and turn so smoothly...reminds you of a Mercedes Benz. They feature real ebony buttons and a flawless black finish. I also like the stealthy look of the black rollers.
